The ThinPrep Imaging system represents a significant advance in diagnostic capability, with 2 unique components for comprehensive and accurate cervical cancer testing. The ThinPrep Imaging system has been shown to provide increased sensitivity and specificity over manually reviewed ThinPrep Pap test slides. In 1 study, the ThinPrep Imaging System was found to have a 50% reduction in false negative fraction when compared to manually reviewed ThinPrep Pap test slides.
As cells progress from normal to abnormal, their nuclei become progressively larger and darker. Imaging identifies 22 areas of interest within the slide and directs cytotechnologists to examine them. This allows for increased sensitivity and specificity over manually reviewed ThinPrep Pap test slides, reduced false negatives and improved standardization at each stage of sample processing.
